Job Opening Summary


Position Summary: Serves as the orthopaedic liaison in the UF Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Institute, and coordinates episode-of-care functions of the adult reconstruction division joint replacement program for the UF Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation. The episode of care is defined as the continuum of patient care from the decision for joint replacement surgery through the perioperative, acute and post-acute periods. Primary duties include communications with patients, families, attending orthopaedic physicians and other staff throughout the episode or care continuum, as well as UF Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Institute staff. The position will serve as the focal point for coordinating efforts that ensure the patient's medical, social and functional status are optimized for major orthopaedic elective surgery preoperatively and the patient is prepared for a successful recovery and rehabilitation postoperatively. The Navigator will be the key contact point for case managers, discharge planners and social workers. Registered nurse will possess knowledge and skills to provide care to patients in an ambulatory setting. Will provide clinical nursing assessment; act as patient care advocate; and provide support, counseling and education to patients. Provides clinical nursing assessment, support, counseling and direct patient care in an ambulatory setting. Works in collaboration with surgery schedulers, other health care providers and ancillary services. Directs clinical support staff and maintains mandatory regulatory institutional policy and procedures under the direction of Division Chief of Adult Reconstruction and ACU Manager.


Job Opening Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Five years of clinical experience as an RN required, as well as one year of supervisory experience.
  • Experience as an orthopaedic patient navigator, experience in an orthopaedic clinic or as a hospital orthopaedic floor nurse, and/or at least two years working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary orthopaedic program preferred.
  • Current licensure by the State of Florida as a registered nurse.
  • ONC certification is preferred.
  • Person should display initiative, have the ability to be multitask, and be able to take on responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to problem solve and be a team member is essential.

*** Minimum Pay Rate - Hourly: $27.90
*** Midpoint Pay Rate - Hourly: $36.67
