Job Opening Qualifications

Responsible for overall efficiency and effectiveness of the pharmacy administrative support staff.  Position involves considerable variety and complexity in the management of administrative duties.  Areas of responsibility include staffing; distribution of clerical duties; T&A, counseling, training and communications; purchasing of supplies and minor equipment; requisitions and tracking of capital equipment; inventory control for department; accurate completion of various reports (Annual Report, QA statistics report, resident recruitment brochures, etc.); initiation and support of staff development programs; and timely submission and supervision of departmental and pharmacists accreditation and licensure requirements and renewals.  Responsible for budget development and variance reporting for non-drug purchases in the pharmacy department.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of three to five years of progressively responsible administrative support role experience in any industry; or progressively responsible operations experience in the health care industry.
  • Prior experience to include advanced knowledge of computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Candidates must demonstrate extraordinary organizational and customer service skills, the ability to problem solve proactively and the ability to demonstrate behaviors supportive of a team environment.
  • Professional judgment and discretion is required.
  • This position requires self-motivation and the ability to make independent decisions.

  • "As a condition of employment within the Pharmacy Services Department of Shands Hospital, all employees must be accessible by telephone. This requires each employee to provide a valid telephone number to the department Staff Assistant in order for the department to reach them in the event of hospital need and/or emergency."

Minimum Pay Rate - Hourly: $19.65
Midpoint Pay Rate - Hourly: $24.52
