Job Opening Summary

The business intelligence developer (BID) must be able to translate the business needs of the customer, engage in discussion to better understand why the need for data exists and employ technical tools to create data-driven solutions. The L3 BID will provide consultative services in response to service requests and ensure email requests are likewise represented. The L3 BID will facilitate use of these solutions to help change/measure/drive key business processes and key coordinated, clinical initiatives. They will develop interactive data solutions to drive improvement. The L3 BID will foster and maintain collaborative relationships with clients typically representing several departments on an enterprise. The L3 BID will communicate with a wide customer base, ranging from unit managers to executives, while gathering information from several sources and analyzing and summarizing the information to help draw conclusions.

The employee will access information considered "confidential and protected" and, therefore, must comply with all relevant policies and procedures related to the use, disclosure and security of this information as well as policies related to security of the organization's information systems. As a result, the individual is required to complete mandatory annual compliance with privacy and security.

Job Opening Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Minimum Education:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university plus four years of relevant work experience required. However, an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for experience. Relevant work experience includes:
    • Health care experience.
    • EMR system experience (Epic preferred).
    • Data analytics.

Minimum Job Experience:

  • Four years of health care data analysis experience with in-depth knowledge of health care operations required. An advanced degree may substitute as health care data analysis experience on a year-for-year basis.

Job-Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • With a focus across several departments across the enterprise, must have:
    • Strong problem-solving, quantitative and analytical abilities.
    • Hands-on experience with large relational databases/data warehousing, including ability to query databases using SQL or similar language.
    • Experience with the following report writing and visualization tools preferred: Epic Cogito Suite (RADAR, RW, SlicerDicer), SAP Business Objects (WebI), Power BI, Tableau or similar report-writing and visualization tools.
    • Excel skills, including complex functions, formulas and formatting.
    • Proven ability to work with and track large amounts of data (millions of records) with accuracy.
    • Excellent communication, collaboration and delegation skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to provide information in an easy-to-understand format.

Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:

  • Employees in this position will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a "non-frequent driver."

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • Registrations, certifications and/or licenses preferred or achieved within six months of hire (depending upon area of focus decided by manager):
    • Cogito Fundamentals.
    • Cogito Access, Revenue or Clinical Data Model (proficiency or above).



Minimum Pay Rate - Hourly: $40.97
Midpoint Pay Rate - Hourly: $55.51
