Job Opening Summary

The extracorporeal membrane oxygenator (ECMO) lead must have excellent verbal and written communication, strong attention to detail and ability to work in all patient populations and be well organized. The ECMO lead will be responsible for the management of the ECMO team as far as daily staffing and assignments, ensuring correct back-up equipment is accessible, supplies are stocked and readily available, performing training for ECMO specialists according to UF Health ECMO policy, assisting with the updating and/or creation of policies for the ECMO team, and being able to perform the job duties of the ECMO specialist. Additional responsibilities will be to adjust and create staff schedules for the ECMO specialist team, assist in the review and tracking of quality improvement initiatives reported to the ECMO coordinator, respond to emergency cardiopulmonary resuscitations (eCPR), ensure equipment is ready and available, and ensure the ECMO coordinator and hospital administration are notified of any staffing or resource concerns.
 

Job Opening Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • An ECMO lead will need to be an ECMO primer with at least one year of experience and proficiency in troubleshooting common day-to-day complications of ECMO runs.
  • Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy or registered nurse program with current State of Florida licensure as a registered respiratory therapist or registered nurse.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as an ECMO primer.


Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • Required:
    • Basic Life Support
    • PALS (may be obtained within 6 weeks of hire)
    • ACLS (may be obtained within 6 weeks of hire)
    • ECMO course completion
    • Transport course completion


Minimum Pay Rate - Hourly: $32.42
Midpoint Pay Rate - Hourly: $44.28
