Hematopathology/HLA/Blood Bank

When you join this dynamic department, you will be part of a lab team providing services that are rarely seen at other health systems. We provide lifesaving transfusions, advanced stem cell processing, specialized genetics, organ and tissue labs that support our revolutionary transplant surgeries, and exciting blood product clinical trials only available in a few labs in the country.

The blood bank department provides a wide span of immunohematology services using the most advanced technology to assist the physician in obtaining quality test results, as well as quality blood products for the patient. Numerous blood products are available to the ordering physician in order to manage the diversified group of patients.

The Transplant Laboratory performs compatibility tests; transplant monitoring for stem cell, kidney, pancreas, heart, lung and liver transplantation; and other immunological testing.

Hematopathology provides diagnostic services that are dedicated exclusively to the analysis and interpretation of hematologic neoplasia and related disorders.

Core Laboratory

Working in our rapidly growing, integrated Core Lab Department, you will be part of a multidepartmental team. Our state-of-the-art labs utilize the most advanced robotics, instrumentation and technologies to streamline testing panels for a diverse array of specialties. Our expansive range of unique pathologies, research, education and training will keep you on the cutting edge of laboratory sciences as you propel your career forward.

Anatomic Pathology

Stimulate your desire to discover, learn and grow on our Anatomic Pathology Lab team. Be part of one of the nation’s most advanced medical teams working alongside renowned specialists and practitioners to diagnose diseases and help to uncover revolutionary solutions for some of medicine’s most complex cases.

Microbiology

UF Health microbiologists are at the center of some of UF Health’s most exciting medical breakthroughs. We work alongside renowned immunologists, pathologists and colleagues across our lab services to identify and understand potential pathogenic organisms. Our microbiologists utilize the latest molecular equipment, including BioFire Diagnostics and high-precision mass spectrometry to advance our understanding of pathologies to the benefit of our patients and the world of medical science.

Phlebotomy

Many career pathways for our clinical staff and providers begin within our Phlebotomy Department. Our phlebotomists gain valuable experience working independently and collaboratively with patients and their care teams. We are educators, care providers, technicians and scientists serving the full-spectrum of care services — ranging from routine adult wellness exams and pediatric specialties to advanced cancer care and transplant surgeries.
